On 1st and goal from the 9-yard line, Tyler Buchner returned to the game at quarterback. He took the snap and rushed up the middle for again of 4 yards.

On 3rd and 6, Jack Coan threw to Kevin Austin, who made a nice leaping catch. He picked up 15 yards and another first down. Interesting play call this late in the game up two touchdowns. After the turnover, USC drove the field with a mix of the pass and run over an 3-minute span. The drive ended with a Darwin Barlow 3-yard touchdown rush to cut the lead to 8 after the missed extra point. Kyren Williams made a guy miss, then another guy, and picked up 9 yards.

Keontay Ingram has brought some of the best offense that USC has had so far in this game and now he gets the Trojans their first touchdown of the game. The score cuts the Notre Dame lead to Drake London may still be the best player on the offense but the inability to protect Kedon Slovis and take advantage of scoring opportunities have taken the Trojans back to basic with the ground game.

The Fighting Irish continue to chip away at a USC team that cannot get out of its own way, and the second Kyren Williams touchdown of the game extends the Fighting Irish lead to Williams now with a season-high 92 rushing yards to go with those two scores and Notre Dame continues to be the more well-rounded team in this matchup.

The rivalry continues. Notre Dame gets clinical after USC's first scoring drive of the game, going 75 yards in 9 plays and capping the possession with a Kyren Williams touchdown run to extend the lead back to two scores.

The lead is the kind that Brian Kelly hopes the defense will be able to nurse the rest of the way, as USC has yet to really show any kind of consistent offensive threat here in the first half.

Great job by the Notre Dame defensive line getting pressure on Kedon Slovis. The Fighting Irish got their hands on Slovis' arm as he was taking aim at the end zone and the wounded duck of a pass turned into an interception returned all the way into the USC red zone. Notre Dame now has a huge swing going from a potential game to having a chance to take a double-digit lead.
