Disable printer auto install windows 7

Unfortunately this has not solved the issue and the default option for USB drives remains the same. I would restore the printers default settings. Restore factory settings. If that doesn't work you can update the printer's firmware to see if that will resolve the issue.
Select your operating system, click next, click the link for firmware. There is one more thing we can try. Print off a configuration page to get the printer's IP address. Then type the IP address in a web browser to bring up the printer's Embedded Web Server and you should be able to disable the Smart Install through here. I cannot see any options to disable from the EWS. I did use the download and then checked with SIUtility.
It is unlikely that I will need to use this printer again. Is there some way of completely removing HP Smart Install from my laptop rather than disabling it? I have uninstalled the printer a couple of times now but this does not remove HP Smart Install. It looks like uninstalling all of the software for the printer has fixed the issue - I tried this before with no fix so perhaps the alterations made during your help have solved this.

Or the big boss chooses one of the 12 printers, prints the confidential document to the wrong one.
This is a problem waiting to happen. Plan a printer setup and impliment. Its part of the net admin job. Auto install may work in a very small enviroment, but not much use or a problem in even a small network.
I have a question. I found that it is the only way that the correct computer name is displayed on their Test pages. Thanks stteng.
